LEGRAND (Legrand) Michel (b. 24 II 1932, Paris) - French composer, jazz pianist and conductor. Son comp. and deer. Raymond L. (1908-74). In 1943-50 he studied at the Paris Conservatory with N. Boulanger (composition). He was an accompanist of M. Chevalier and other est. singers. He wrote a number of ballets for the troupe "Balle de Paris", including "Damned Beauty" ("Les belles damnees", 1955), "Valentina" (1956). In the 50s. He worked in the USA, wrote music for esters. submissions (show). In L.'s work, the film musical “Umbrellas of Cherbourg” (“Les parapluies de Cherbourg”, 1963), the film-musical “Girls from Rochefort” (“Les demoiselles de Rochefort”, 1967), as well as music for films (St. 30), including “Unusual America” (1960, in the USSR under the title “America through the eyes of a Frenchman”), “Woman is a woman” (1960), “Lola”, “Cleo from 5 to 7”, “Seven Deadly Sins” (all 1961), Eve (1962)“Beautiful May” (1963), “Pool” (1968), “Summer of the 42nd”, “Go-Beatwin” (both 1971), etc.
