SAVSHINSKY Samaria Ilyich [24 VI (6 VII) 1891, Petersburg - 19 X 1968, Leningrad] - Sov. teacher and pianist. In 1915 he graduated from St. Petersburg. conservatory in the class of fp. at L.V. Nikolaev. In 1918-21 teacher of the class of fp. at the conservatory of Rostov-on-Don; led in this city an intensive conc. activity.Since 1921 a teacher, since 1926 Professor Leningrad. conservatory (since 1933 the head of the department of the faculty., in 1940-51 the dean of the faculty of finance). As a pianist-teacher, he creatively developed the arts. and methodical. principles of L.V. Nikolaev. S. trained more than 200 musicians who successfully work in different areas of muses. culture. S. paid great attention to music. child development, making mean. contribution to the theoretical. development of a progressive auditory method of muses. education. He was one of the organizers and the first director (since 1936) special. musesten-year schools at Leningrad. conservatory. Author of a number of books and articles, devoted. issues fp. arts and pedagogy.
