James Otto - Where Angels Hang Around

FILZ, Fils, Filz, Fils (Fils, Filtz, Filz, Fiels, Fieltz, Fitz) Antonin (baptized 22 IX 1733, Eichstätt - buried 14 III 1760, Mannheim) - Czech. composer and cellist. Little information about his life has been preserved. Studied with Y. V.A. Stamyts in the Man Game. From 1754 until his death he was the first cellist of the Mannheim chapel, for which he composed music. It consisted of par. composer Elector Karl Theodor. Developed the achievements of his teacher Y. V. A. Stamyts; F.'s art is based on the implementation of Czech traditions. Narmusic (rhythms of the furian and other folk dances) and the synthesis of German traditions., Austr. and ital. masters. Symph. Op.F. enjoyed great popularity in his time. F. was one of the representatives of the Mannheim school. His 4-part symphonies are distinguished by bright figurative-thematic. contrasts, bumpiness of dynamics, harmony of composition, fine finish of details; in some parts the features of the sonata form are clearly visible. Mfr. F. published in Paris, in London and Amsterdam, and later - in Prague (in the series "Musica Antique Bohemica"). Manuscripts P are stored in the books of Berlin, London, Milan, etc.
