RINUCCINI (Rinuccini) Ottavio (20 I 1563, Florence - 28 III 1621, ibid.) - Italian. poet, playwright, librettist. He served in the courtyard of the Medici. He wrote the texts of the celebrations. performances and interludes with music. He entered the Florentine chamber, participating in the creation of the first operas (“dramas” or “fairy tales on music”). The first samples of this genre are written on R.'s texts - the operas Daphne (1594, post. 1597) and Eurydice (1600) Peri, Eurydice by G. Caccini (1600). Poetic. they are close in style. pastoral 16th century., and R. sought to revive the antique. tragedy. For the first opera composers, R. was not only a librettist (in the modern sense of the word). Representatives of the Florence Camerata believed that music should obey poetry and enhance its emotional effect, so the poet was the main person for them in search of a synthesis of poetry, drama and music. In 1600-04 R.repeatedly visited France (received the title of Chamberlain of the Court). In 1608, K. Monteverdi wrote the opera Ariadne (with the interlude Ballet of the Ungrateful) on his text. In the direction of poetic creativity, R. adjoins T. Tasso, J. Guarini, G. Ciabrera.
