V. created approx. 200 romances and songs, mainly on verses rus. of poets - M. Yu. Lermontov, A. N. Plescheev, A. A. Fet and others. He willingly turned to the work of songwriters: A. V. Koltsov, N. G. Tsyganov, A. V. Timofeev, on poems which V. wrote his best "USA songs" in the Nar. spirit.
