Bela Bartok (Bartók; 1881–1945) is a Hungarian composer, pianist, teacher, ethnographer, the largest researcher and collector of musical folklore of Hungary. An irreconcilable anti-fascist, in 1940 emigrated from Hungary to the United States. He wrote mainly instrumental music, although in his creative heritage there is also the opera “Castle of the Duke Bluebeard” (1918). The author of the ballets The Wooden Prince (1917) and The Wonderful Mandarin (1926); symphonies (1902); the symphonic poem "Kossuth" (1903); three concerts for piano and orchestra (1926, 1931, 1945); two concerts for violin and orchestra (1908, 1938); six string quartets written in 1908-1939, fifteen Hungarian peasant songs for piano (1917), etc.
