The young widow Elena von Braining (1750–1838), a woman of extraordinary nobleness and kindness, who herself suffered a tragic loss, could not remain indifferent to the fate of a geniusly gifted teenager. Her husband, court adviser Emanuel von Braining, died during a fire on January 15, 1777, trying to save the documents of the state chancellery in the princely palace from the fire.
