As for Antonio Salieri, the fact of his studies with Beethoven is absolutely undeniable (the training materials have been preserved, and Beethoven subsequently even published a number of works written under Italian guidance on Italian texts). But less is known about these lessons than about lessons with Albrechtsberger. Researchers can only speculate during what period Beethoven regularly went to Salieri. They were probably familiar since 1793, but the classes most likely began much later. In part, three violin sonatas op. 12, dedicated to "Signor Antonio Salieri, the first bandmaster of the imperial court in Vienna", published in early 1799. According to Julia Ronge, this dedication could precede the start of classes with Salieri (he usually did not take money for lessons), and the classes themselves began then,when Beethoven thought about creating major vocal compositions - that is, in the period 1801-1802.
