GRANICHSTEDTEN (Granichstaedten) Bruno (1 IX 1879, Vienna - 20 V 1944, New York) - Austrian composer. He studied with S. Jadasson at the Leipzig Conservatory. He was accompanist in Vienna Opera, performed as a singer and pianist in a cabaret. The author of 16 operettas (1908-30), including “Boy or Girl” (“Bub oder Mädel”, 1908), “On the orders of the Empress” (“Auf Befehl der Kaiserin”, 1915), “Love in Waltzes” (Walzerliebe, 1918), Orlov (1928), Evelina (1928), which were successful. Composed film music, wrote the libretto "for his operettas and operettas by O. Strauss, collaborated with comp. R. Benacki. In 1939, in connection with the accession of Austria to fascist Germany, he emigrated to the United States.
