LEVIN Yakov Arkadevich (12 IX 1912, Kiev - April 1942, died at the front) - Soviet composer. In 1938 he graduated from the Kiev Conservatory in composition classes with L. N. Revutsky and fp. at K.N. Mikhailov. From 1933 he worked as accompanist (in the Chapel of the Bandurists of the Ukrainian SSR, in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Ukrainian SSR). L.'s original talent was especially pronounced in the genre of the song (he worked predominantly with the poet V.N.Sosyura). Among his songs are “Unity”, “In the Big It” and the especially popular “Don Kozatska” (lyrics by A. Uvarov). L. belong processing Ukrainian.
