Novak at the School of Excellence (1937-39), musicology and music. aesthetics - by Z. Needla and others at Charles University (1932-37). Teacher ped. Institute in Presov (1939), since 1944 - University in Bratislava (since 1963 professor and head of the department of musicology). In 1956-64, director of the Institute of Musicology of Words. ANScientific K. works problems of muses. aesthetics, words. musesfolklore and creativity of words. composers. In his composing work he continues the traditions of classics and romantics, relying on nat. muses folklore.
