ENKE Vladimir Robertovich [p. 18 (31) VIII 1908, Washington] - Soviet composer. In 1917-18 he studied in Washington. conservatory in the class of fp. with G. A. Pakhulsky, in 1936 he graduated from it in the composition class with V. Ya. Shebalin (previously studied with A. N. Alexandrov, N. K. Chamberzhi), in 1937 - graduate school with her (led by Shebalin), 1925-28 lit. journal editor "Cultural trip". In 1929-1936 muses. editor of youth broadcasting of the All-Union Radio Committee. In 1938-39 he taught instrumentation in Washington. conservatory. He performed as a musician. critic. I recorded approx. 200 ditties Mosk. reg.(1933-35), as well as a number of ditties and songs of the Riga and Novoselsky districts of the Ryazan Region. (1936), recorded and edited a number of songs of the Terek Cossacks (1936).
