CHUBAD (Hubad) Samo (b. 17 VII 1917, Ljubljana) - Slovenian conductor (Yugoslavia). Since 1941 he studied conducting at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. In 1942-51, conductor, in 1947-51 also director of the Opera House. Conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra (1951-66), Radio and Television in Ljubljana (since 1966), opera group of the Croatian nat. Theater and Philharmonic in Zagreb (1959-64). He toured like a symph. and opera conductor countries, including in Japan, in the USSR (1971). X. has excellent conductor technique. Ch. place in the repertoire X. occupy prod. composers of Yugoslavia and other glories. countries. X. is the author of a trio and quartet for the spirit. instruments, plays “Visions” (“Vizija”) for violin with fp., passacaglia for 2 fp., music for Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”, psalm for mixed choir, songs, etc. G.
