MINIGNY, Mignone (Mignone) Francisco (b. 3 IX 1897, São Paulo) - Brazil. composer, conductor, pianist. He studied music with his father - flutist Alferiu M. (1875-1960). In 1917 he graduated from the Conservatory in São Paulo and performed with the first op. for orc. In 1920-25 he studied composition at the Milan Conservatory under V. Ferroni. In 1929-32 he was a professor in the classes of fp. and harmony at the conservatory of sao paulo. Since 1934 teaches conducting in Nat. School of Music (Rio de Janeiro). He performed as a conductor (he toured the USA in 1942). In opera, he combined the principles of the new Italian. schools with braz. nat.elements. In the orc. production M. makes extensive use of melodic. turnovers songs and dances of Brazil. Nat The colorful instrumentation of his music is also marked by color. He wrote an autobiography (A parte do Anjo, Sao Paulo, 1947).
