CUZZONI SANDONI (Cuzzoni Sandoni) Francesca (1700, Parma - 1770, Bologna) - Italian. singer (soprano). Daughter of violinist Angelo K. (b. 1671 - death of an unknown). She studied in Parma under P. Lanzi; in 1716 she made her debut on the opera stage, then she sang in the theaters of Bologna, Venice. In 1723, was invited by G. F. Handel to London, where she performed with great success in his opera Otton. Later she sang leading roles in Handel’s operas “Admet”, “Rodelivda”, “Scipio and Alexander”, as well as in the operas “Coriolanus”, “Vespasian”, “Artaxerxes” and “Lucius Ver” by Arnosti, “Kalpurnia” and “ Astianax »Bononchini and others. Returning to Italy (in 1737), performed in Florence, and from 1739 toured in Vienna, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Stuttgart and others. One of the outstanding singers of the 18th century. K. S. possessed the voice of a beautiful soft timbre; she was equally successful in complex coloratura and cantile arias.
