YORISH Vladimir Yakovlevich [13 (25) XI 1899, Yekaterinoslav, now Dnepropetrovsk - 21 VI 1945, Kiev] - Soviet composer and conductor. Failed art.USSR (1932). In 1917 he graduated from music in Yekaterinoslav. school (class fp.), in 1924 - muses. technical school (according to the composition class of K. A. Korchmarev and the conducting class to L. M. Tseytlin). Until 1928 he taught solfeggio and elementary theory in muses. technical school. In 1920 he began conducting activities. There was a head. musespart of Ukr. dramatic Theater named after Shevchenko in Dnepropetrovsk, in 1928-32 chap. Conductor of mobile Ukrainian opera house (since 1931 the Dnepropetrovsk working opera house). From 1934 to the end of his life, conductor, from 1943 ch. conductor Ukr. Opera and Ballet Theater (Kiev). He instrumented the opera Zaporozhets beyond the Danube by Gulak-Artemovsky and Natalka Poltavka by Lysenko, to whom he also wrote several. scenes, arias, choirs.
