CERATO (Serato) Arrigo (7 II 1877, Bologna - 27 XII 1948, Rome) - Italian. violinist and teacher. The son of the cellist, professor of the Bologna Conservatory Francesco S. (1843-1919). In 1894 he graduated from the Muses. Lyceum in Bologna in violin class with F. Sarti, later made a triumphal tour in Europe and America, also performed with F. Busoni. In Berlin he took part in string concerts. Quartet J. Joachim. In 1900 he toured in USA. In 1925 he organized fp. the trio, together with I. Pizzetti (fp.) and E. Maynardi (cello), played Italian in 1925-30. trio sovm. with R. Lorenzoni and A. Bonucci. S.'s performance was distinguished by its perfect technique, soft, even sound, clean and expressive; his interpretation of the concerts of L. Beethoven and I. Brahms stood out. In 1914-21 he was a professor in the violin class at the Lyceum "Santa Cecilia" in Rome (from 1919 - the Conservatory),From 1926 until the end of his life he taught at refresher courses.
