KABELAC (Kabelac) Miloslav (b.1 VIII 1908, Prague) - Czechoslovak composer, musicologist and music societies. figure. He studied at the Prague Conservatory (1928-31) under C. Jirak (composition), P. Dedechek (conducting) and at the School of Masters at the Conservatory (1931-32) under V. Kurtz (fp.). Since 1934 ed. Chekhosl. radio. Since 1958, a professor in composition at the Prague Conservatory, he has been heading the Music Section of the Eastern Czechoslovak Institute. Academy of Sciences. K. is one of the leading sovr. composers of Czechoslovakia, master ch. arr. orc. music. In creativity relies on the traditions of nat. muses folklore, combining them with the assimilation of some elements of the music of the peoples of Asia, and also applies new methods of writing. K. is a composer of a philosophical warehouse (the problems of life and death, peace and war, good and evil are expressed in his music). Mfr. 1939-44 signed by the pseudonym Jaromir Blaha.
