CALZOLARI (Calzolari) Enrico (22 II 1823, Parma - 1 III 1888, Milan) - Italian singer (tenor). In 1837 he made his debut in Parma in one of the concerts. He studied with J. Panitzi in Milan. In 1845, he successfully performed on the stage of the Milanese La Scala theater in the part of Hernani (Verdi's Hernani). Then he sang in Milan, Madrid, Brussels, Paris and other cities. In 1853-75 he performed annually on the stage of the Italian Opera in St. Petersburg. In 1870-75 he taught in St. Petersburg. conservatory. K.'s voice was soft, transparent timbre was flexible, mobile and sounded evenly in all registers. K.'s performance was distinguished by virtuoso mastery in the coloratura passages, which made it possible to compare him with J. B. Rubini.
