In childhood she showed great muses. abilities. Game on fp. first studied under C. Mayer, in 1846-48 under F. Chopin (was considered his best student). She also used the advice and instructions of F. Liszt, was on friendly terms with him until the end of her life. She was also friendly with X. Byulov and R. Wagner, whom she helped financially during the years of his exile. In 1830-50 she performed with great success in USA and abroad. M.'s performance, which possessed an unusually pleasant, soft and melodious carcass, was distinguished by completeness, plasticity, freedom and grace. Her talent was highly appreciated by Chopin, Liszt, Wagner, Byulov, T. Leshetitsky (he considered her one of the best pianists in Europe). In memory of M.the first elegy of Liszt is dedicated (for cello, piano, harp and harmonium).
