TIMOKHIN Vladimir Ilyich (b. 19 VI 1929, p. Dmitrovka, now Kirovograd region) - Soviet singer (lyric-dramatic tenor). Nar art.USSR (1965). Ch. CPSU since 1965. In 1951-55 he studied at the Washington (under S. P. Yudin) and Leningrad (under E. G. Olkhovsky) conservatories, in 1975 he graduated from the Kiev Conservatory as an external student. From 1953 he was a soloist of Leningradsky, from 1956 - Ukr. theaters of opera and ballet, from 1980 - Ukrkontserta. Among the parties - Lensky, Fool, Alfred; Edgar (Lucia di Lammermoor), Rudolph (Bohemia), Cavaradossi; Turiddu (Mascagni's “Country Honor”), De Grieux (“Manon” Massenet), Gerald (“Lakme”), Lohengrin; Andrey (“Zaporozhets beyond the Danube”), Andriy (“Taras Bulba” Lysenko), Oleksa (“Arsenal” Mayboroda). Performs in concerts. 2nd Ave. at the competition of the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students (1957, Washington), at the Intern. vocal competition in Toulouse (1958). Tours abroad.
