ZIRRA (Zirra) to Alexander (14 VII 1883, Roman - 23 III 1946, Sibiu) - room. composer and teacher. In 1905 he graduated from the Iasi Conservatory, studied with S. Teodoryanu (music-theoretical subjects), G. Muzichesku and T. Czerne (harmony). In 1905-07 and 1909-11 he improved on composition at the Milan Conservatory under C. Gatti. In 1910-11, the tutor in the theater "La Scala" (Milan). In 1925-31 teacher and director of the Conservatory in Chernivtsi. In 1907-40 (with interruptions) he taught harmony at the Iasi Conservatory. That means. the composer paid attention to opera; his opera "Alexander Lepushnyan" went down in the history of nat. art (1930, post. 1941, Bucharest, 2nd ed. 1944). Among others.
