MATEJ (Matej) Josef (b. 19 II 1922, Brusperk, Moravia) - Czech. composer. He studied with J. Rzhidky at the Academy of Arts in Prague (1947-51). He taught at the drum. Faculty of the Academy of Arts (1952-54). He worked on Radio and in the Army Arts, ensemble them. B. Nedely. In Op. 50s translated the features of muses. folklore of the Danish region; studied also nar. musesart of the Balkan and Caucasian peoples. He was influenced by the works of L. Janachek, B. Martin, V. Bartok, I.F. Stravinsky and S.S. Prokofiev. A lot of op. wrote for brass instruments, incl. a cycle of 38 Informatorium pieces for trombone (or bassoon, horn, trumpet) and fp. (1964), reproducing the styles of decomp. eras. Among others. Op. - 5 symphonies (1955-77), “9 dances from Pobeskid” (1951) and “Lash serenade” (1953) for orchestra; concerts with orc. - 2 for trombone (1951, 1952), for skr. (1961), viola (Rhapsody, 1962), pipes (1963) and others; songs; music for dramas. theater and motion pictures. The author of instructive pieces for wind instruments.
