LEGEND (from lat. Legenda, letters. - that should be read) - muses. a work of lyric-epic nature, reproducing the content of nar. or religion. L. A related ballad of the L. genre was formed in the era of romanticism. There are many varieties of L. Wok. L. (for singing with accompaniment of fp) are presented in the work of K. Leve. One of the earliest instr. plays of this genre is a popular L. for violin and orc. G. Wieniawski (op. 17, 1859). Legends in the form of software tools. the plays were created by F. (Liszt (two L. for the php: “St. Francis of Assisi. Sermon to the Birds” and “St. Francis of Paola Walking on the Waves”, no later than 1863). He also owns the oratorio Legend of St. Elizabeth "(1862), L." Saint Cecilia "for mezzo-soprano, ad libitum choir and orc. Or piano. (1874) and the incomplete L." St. Christoph "for baritone, female choir, piano,harmonium and harp ad libitum (1874, un publ.). Name “L.” are also some operas: “Palestrina. The dramatic legend ”by Pfitsner (1917) and“ The Legend of St. Christoph ”by d'Andy (post. 1920).
