NEUBAUER (Neubauer) Frantisek Krishtof (Franz Christof) (21 III 1750, Miller, Czech Republic - 11 X 1795, Buckeburg) - Czech. violinist, conductor and composer. He worked in Prague, then in Vienna, where N. spoke with J. Haydn, V. A. Mozart, and also with P. Vranitsky (N. participated in the post of his singspiel “Fernando and Yariko”). He lived in various cities of Switzerland (in Winterthur in 1786 he performed his “Hymn to Nature” - “Hymne an die Natur”) and in Germany (in Heilbronn in 1789). He served as the court bandmaster in Weilburg (1790-94), then at the count Schaumburg-Lippe in Buckeburg (1795; N. - successor to I.K. F. Bach). The author of Ch. arr. instr. Op.- more than 11 symphonies (one of them was attributed to V.A. Mozart and published in 1944 under his name; N.'s authorship was proved in 1947), concerts with orc. - for piano, cello, flute; sonatas for violin solo, numerous duets for 2 violins, violin and viola (or cello), trio decomp. compositions, 16 strings. quartets. B. h. Op. N. remained in the manuscript (symphonies, masses, cantatas and songs).
