REVUELTAS (Revueltas) Sylvestre (31 XII 1899, Santiago Papaskiaro - 5 X 1940, Mexico City) - Mexican composer, violinist and conductor. In 1913-16 he studied in the Nat. Conservatory of Mexico in the violin class at X. Rocabruna, compositions at R. X. Tello, in 1918-20 in the Muses. College of Chicago at Sametini (violin) and F. Borovsky (composition). In 1922-24 there he improved as a violinist with P. Kokhansky and O. Shevchik. In 1928-35 he was the 2nd conductor of Symph. Mexico City Orchestra (later - National Symphony Orchestra), promoting social with K. Chavez works of modern. Europe and mex. composers. In 1937 he traveled to Spain, where he gave a series of original concerts in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
