Levan Ivanovich Ivanov [18 11 (2 III) 1834 - 11 (24) XII 1901, St. Petersburg] - USA. ballet dancer and choreographer. In 1852 he graduated from St. Petersburg. theatre. since that same year, the artist was St. Petersburg. Bolshoi Theater (danced until 1893). Since 1882, the director of the ballet troupe, from 1885 the 2nd choreographer of the Mariinsky Theater, where he directed many more. ballets, including "The Enchanted Forest" by Drigo (1887), as well as Polovtsian dances for the premiere of the opera "Prince Igor" (1890). The most significant of his works are the ballet The Nutcracker (1892) and especially the 2nd act of the ballet Swan Lake (1894; the 1st and 3rd acts of the post of M. I. Petipa), where the dance was a means of creating the image. I. achieved the complete unity of music and dance, thanks to him USA. the public was able to appreciate the greatness of the plan of P. I.
