RAYETSKY (Rajeczky) Benjamin (b. 1901, Eger) - Hungarian musicologist, historian and folklorist. He graduated from the University of Innsbruck (1925). He taught singing in high school (1926-45), lectured on Nar. music at the university (1940-50); was scientific. employee of the department Music Ethnographic. Museum (1950-60) in Budapest, in 1960-70 deputy. hands. Musical and Folk Commission Hungary. Academy of Sciences. Together with Z. Koday he worked on the implementation of Hungarian. Narsongs in the school repertoire; he owns the "Singing Alphabet" ("Enekes Bbec", 1938, 1950). P. studied medieval. church. and nar. Hungarian music, including musesFolklore of Hungarians living in the north-east. Romania ("Csangu nepzene ...", v. 1-2, Bdpst, 1956-61). Editor (jointly with L. Kishs) of the 5th volume (“Weeping”) of the Code of Hungarian Folk Music (A magyar nepzene tara, Siratok, Bdpst, 1966) and the author of his introductory article. He published many folk Hungarian tunes. He is the author of popular scientific works (annotations on the gramophone records of Gregorian singing and folk Hungarian music, 1969, 1972).
