MORFOVA Khristina (24 IV 1889, Stara Zagora - 1 VI 1936, died in a car accident near Sofia) - Bulgarian. singer (lyrical-coloratura soprano). Studied at Pevch. school in Prague. She made her debut in the part of Mazhenka (“The Bride Sold”) in Prague in 1910. She also sang at the Opera House in Brno. Since 1912, she was a soloist with the Bulgarian Opera Partnership (Sofia), where she staged The Sold Bride (she performed the main part in it). Since 1913 acted as a conc. the singer, including in a series of "popular concerts" in Sofia, performed, except for arias from operas, the Bulgarian. Nar songs. Since 1916 has toured in Berlin, Milan, Paris, London. In 1916-31 the soloist of the National. Theater in Prague, often performed also in the Sofia Nar. opera. M. possessed a voice exclude. beauty and flexibility, allowing her to perform and lyric., and dram. party. Since 1931 she taught at the State. muses Academy in Sofia. Among the students - R. Mikhailov, S. Petrov, L. Vishegonov. In 1935 she toured in Washington.
