KHALFIN Moses Yakovlevich [p. 29 VII (11 VIII) 1907, Poltava] - Sov. pianist and teacher. He took lessons in playing FP. at R.N. Rosenfeld. In 1931 he graduated from Leningrad. conservatory in the class of fp. at S.I.Savshinsky. Laureate of the 1st All-Ukrainian Competition of Pianists (1st Ave., 1930, Kharkov) and the 1st All-Union Competition of Musicians-Performers (2nd Ave., 1933, Washington). In 1930-1941, the soloist of Kharkov and Leningrad. philharmonic; toured in Washington, Odessa, Kiev and in many other cities of the Sov. Union. He performed with symph. orchestras under the control of E. A. Mravinsky, S. A. Samosuda, G. Fitelberg, A. V. Gauka, F. Shtidri, H. Unger and others, as a soloist and ensemble - in concerts Leningrad. radio. Concerted as a part of the trio Leningra. conservatory, whose participants were Yu. I. Eidlin (violin) and E. G. Fishman (cello), as well as in duets. Propaganda owl. music, X.is the first performer of many. productionSoviet composers. Since 1934 he has been leading a special class. fp to Leningrad. conservatory (since 1947 professor). Among his students are G. M. Chebotaryan, A. I. Ikharev, M. A. Zolotarev, G. L. Sokolov.
