ALSHVANG Arnold Aleksandrovich [19 IX (1 X) 1898, Kiev - 28 VII 1960, Moscow] - Soviet musicologist. Doctor of Arts (1944). Since 1911 he studied at the Kiev Conservatory. (studied with G. K. Khodorovsky and G. G. Neigauz), in 1922 by composition (studied with R. M. Glier and B. L. Yavorsky). School of the People’s Commissariat of Ukraine, from 1920, lecturer of the Higher Military Political. Schools of Right-Bank Ukraine. Since 1923, professor and dean of the Musical and Scientific Faculty of the Kiev Conservatory. Since 1924 he lived in Moscow. In 1928-32, a valid member of Gos. Academy of Arts. sciences (GAHN). In 1930-34 in Moscow. The conservatory conducted a number of historical disciplines (mainly the course of modern Western European music). In 1923-31 he performed as a pianist in Kiev, Leningrad, Moscow, Kharkov and other cities.
