WARREN (Warren) Leonard (21 IV 1911, New York - 4 III 1960, ibid.) - American singer (dram. Baritone). He graduated from Columbia University in New York, at the same time. He took singing lessons from S. Dych and J. de Luca. Since 1937, the choir, in 1938 made his debut as a conc. singer. Since 1938 he sang in the Metropolitan Opera (the first part was Paolo, Verdi's Simon Boccanegra). He toured in many places. US and international opera houses in Gore. theater in Rio de Janeiro and the Colon Theater in Buenos Aires (1942), the Mexico City Opera House (1948-49), La Scala (Milan), and also at the Bolshoi Theater in Washington (performed in one of his best games - Rigoletto, 1958). An outstanding performer of parts in operas by J. Verdi and other Italian, as well as French composers. Possessed a large voice of a beautiful timbre that sounded evenly in all registers, perfect wok. technique, stage mastery; interpretation of U.differed in brightness, expression, scale.
