Relatively easy G. is executed in fp. older designs with their more pliable, so-called Viennese mechanics. Perhaps that is why G. parallel sextons were already used by V. A. Mozart (variations of "Lison dormant"). Octave G. are found by L. Beethoven (concert in C major, sonata Op. 53), K. M. Weber (“Kontsertstyuk”, op. 79), G. by thirds and quarts — by M. Ravel (“Mirrors”) and etc. If on keyboard instruments with their temperament system, using G., a scale with a certain pitch is extracted, then on stringed instruments, which are characterized by a free system, by means of G., chromatic is extracted.
