HERZ (Herz) Henry (Henry) (6 I 1803, Vienna - 5 I 1888, Paris) - French. pianist, composer and teacher. German by nationality. Game on fp. studied with Hünten (father) in Koblenz, in 1816 - at the Paris Conservatory under L. Prader and A. Reich. Later perfected by hand. I. Mosheles. In 1842-74 he was a professor at the Paris Conservatory (class of fp.). He toured in many places. countries (in 1845-51 - in North and South America, in 1859 in USA). He wrote the memoirs “My Travels in America” (“Mes voyages en Amerique”, P., 1866). DOS in fp factory with conc. Hall - Salle Herz. Instruments of the G. factory received 1st Ave. at the World Exhibition in Paris (1855). G. - a representative of the salon-virtuoso direction, his game was distinguished by external brilliance, elegance. The author of many Salon compositions for fp., including 8 concerts, sonatas, variations, fantasies, rondos, dances,nocturnes, schools ("Methode complete de piano", op. 100), studies, exercises; violin sonatas and others.
