Free DownloadGALSTON (Galston) Gottfried (31 VIII 1879, Vienna - 2 IV 1950, St. Louis, USA) - Aust. pianist and teacher. He studied with T. Leshetitsky (fp.) In Vienna, with S. Yadasson (composition) in Leipzig. In 1903-05 he taught at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin. He toured in many places. countries, including in Australia (1902), repeatedly in USA (in 1908, 1914; in the USSR - in 1926). In 1921-27 he lived in Berlin, from 1927 - in the USA., He taught at the Conservatory in St. Louis. G.'s game was distinguished by thoughtfulness, lyricism. subtlety, soft, beautiful sound. In his will. art was strongly influenced by F. Busoni. The historian cycle brought him particular fame. monograph concerts (5 evenings, after I.S. Bach, L. Beethoven, F. Chopin, F. Liszt and I. Brahms), repeated in decomp. countries (including in USA). The work experience on this cycle is captured by G. in the “Workbook” (“Studienbuch”, V., 1910, Münch.,1921). Known also made G. fp. transcription of g-moll sicilians from sonata for flute Es-dur by I. S. Bach. G. M. Kogan.
