GALVANI (Galvani) Giacomo (1 XI 1825, Bologna - 7 V 1889, Venice) - Italian singer (tenor) and teacher. Studied at the Muses. Lyceum of Bologna at Gamberini and L. Zamboni. In 1849 he made his debut in Spoleto. Sang in the decomp. theaters in Italy, as well as in Madrid, Brussels, Liege, Antwerp and other cities. His bright, brilliant, flexible voice was approaching dramas in intensity. tenor. He was an unsurpassed performer of the Almaviva party. Art. G. associated with the traditions of J. Rubini. In the 60s. G. left the scene. In 1869-87, professor Mosk. conservatory (was invited by N.G. Rubinstein). Among his students are M.N. Klimentova, A. Yu. Bolska (Skompskaya), ME Medvedev, A.P. Antonovsky, S.E. Trezvinsky, and others. In 1887-89 he taught in Venice. He wrote Practical Notes on the Singing Voice (Observations pratiques sur l'organe de la voix, Moscou, 1882). L.
