VOYTOVICH (Woytowicz) Boleslav (b. 5 XII 1899, Dunaevtsy, now Khmelnytsky region) - Polish composer, pianist and teacher. In 1913-17 he lived in Kamenetz-Podolsk. He studied music privately, received a general education at Kiev and Warsaw universities (mathematics, law, USA linguistics). In 1921-24 he studied at the Higher School of Music. F. Chopin in Warsaw with A. Mikhalovsky (fp.), V. Malishevsky and F. Shopsky (composition). In 1929-32 he improved his composition with N. Boulanger in Paris. Concerted in Poland and other countries Zap. Europe and the USA (since 1924). Professor of the Higher School of Music. F. Chopin, Katowice (since 1945) and Krakow (since 1963) conservatories. Polyphonic writing techniques and proximity to neoclassicism are characteristic of V.'s work. Gos. etc. Poland (1948, 1950).
