VIVALDI (Vivaldi) Antonio [4 III 1678 (?) Venice - 28 VII 1741, Vienna] - Italian composer, violinist, conductor and teacher. He studied with his father Giovanni Battista V. - violinist chapel of the Cathedral of St. Mark in Venice and, apparently, at J. Legrentsi. He became famous for his virtuoso violin playing. From 1703 a teacher (maestro di violino), later the conductor of the orchestra and the head of concerts, from 1713 also director of wives. Conservatory "Pieta" ("Ospedale della Pieta").
