Accord (French. Accord, Italian. Accordo, from late Lat. Accordo - I agree) - a consonance of three or more dec. (oppositely) sounds that are one third away from each other or that can be (by permutations) located along the third. In a similar way, A. was first defined by I. G. Walter (Musikalisches Lexikon oder Musikalische Bibliothek, 1732). Prior to this, A. was understood as intervals - any or only consonances, as well as any combination of tones in the same sound. Depending on the number of opposite sounds that make up A. , triad (3 sounds), seventh chord (4), non-chord (5), undecimacchord (6, is rare, like A. out of 7 sounds) are distinguished. The lower sound A. is called DOS. tone, the remaining sounds are called. on the interval formed by them with DOS. tone (third, fifth, septima, nona, undecime). Any sound A. can be transferred to another octave or doubled (tripled, etc. ) in other octaves. At the same time, A. retains its name. If DOS. the tone goes to the upper or one of the middle voices, the so-called chord inversion. A. can be located both closely and widely.
