Kenny Chesney - Christmas In Dixie

VENGEROVA Isabella Afanasevna [p. 17 II (1 III) 1877, Minsk - 7 II 1956, New York] - Rus. pianist and teacher. Sister of the historian of literature and bibliographer S. A. Vengerov and lit. criticism and literary historian Z. A. Vengerova. In 1895 she graduated from the Vienna Conservatory with J. Dach. For 2 years, improved with T. Leshetitsky. Later, she studied with A.N. Esipova in St. Petersburg, where in 1904 she graduated from the external conservatory. She led a concert activity. Since 1907, teacher (in 1913-21 professor) of the Petrograd Conservatory. Since 1923 she lived in the USA; taught at the Curtis Institute of Music (Philadelphia; Honorary Doctor since 1950). Among B.'s students are L. Bernstein, S. Barber, L. Foss. J.I. Milshtein.
