WACHMAN (Wachmann) Eduard (10 II 1836, Bucharest - 12 XII 1908, ibid.) - room. composer, conductor, music societies. figure. The son of the composer J. A. Wachmann (1807-1863). In 1859-63 he studied at the Paris Conservatory with M. Carafa and A. Marmontel. He worked as a conductor nat. theaters of Craiova (1853-57) and Bucharest (1863-64). In 1864-1903, professor of classes in the FP. and harmony at the Bucharest Conservatory (director 1869-1903). V. - founder, director and conductor of the Bucharest Philharmonic and its orchestra (1868-1906). At the same time (in 1895-1901) was the director of the opera company Nat. Theater in Bucharest. Author approx. 10 vaudeville (including lyrics by V. Alexandri, M. Millo), choirs, songs, arrangements for fp. folk melodies, etc.
