VANCHA (Vancea) Zeno [p. 8 (21) X 1900, Boksha Vasiovei, Banat] - room. composer, musicologist and teacher. Failed activist Arts CPP (1954). In 1915-21 he studied the game of fp. and theoretical. disciplines in Lugozh by I. Vidu and in Cluj by G. Dima. In 1921-26 he studied composition by E. Kanitz at the Vienna Conservatory. In 1929-40 he taught harmony and the history of music at the conservatory in Tirgu Mures (director in 1945-48), in Timisoara in 1940-45. In 1949-68, professor at the Bucharest Conservatory. In 1953-64 chap. ed.journal "Muzica".
