Bihari (Jan Bihari) Janos (24 X 1764, Nagyabon - 26 IV 1827, Pest) - Hungarian. violinist and composer. By nationality, gypsies. One of the creators of the Verbunkosh style. OK.1801 organized a dance in Pest. an orchestra (chapel), with which he successfully toured in Hungary and foreign countries as a conductor and violinist. A brilliant virtuoso who possessed the gift of improvisation, he became famous for his performance of weng. Nar dances and songs. His play made a deep impression on the young F. Liszt. In 1824, due to damage to his left arm, B. left to perform. activity. In his writings (St. 80) he developed ch. arr. ancient hungarian. dance melodies and song folklore. In kurutsk and folk song paraphrases he spoke as it means. representative of Hungary. muses culture 1st quarter 19 century(see Hungarian music). He is credited with the melody "Rakotsi-march." B.'s work has influenced composers from other countries. B. Beethoven's melodies were used by L. Beethoven in music for “King Stephen” op. 117, F. Liszt, P. Sarasate and others.
