Berezovsky Maxim Sozontovich [16 (27) X 1745, Glukhov - 22 III (2 IV) 1777, Petersburg] - USA composer. By nationality, Ukrainian. He studied at the Kiev Academy and Pridv. chorister chapel in St. Petersburg (by F. Zoppis). In 1759-60 he performed as a singer-soloist in Italian performances. Opera Company (Oranienbaum). In 1765-74 he lived in Italy. In 1771 he passed the exam at the Bologna Philharmonic. Academy for the title of academic composer. The author of the opera Demofont (librarian P. Metastasio, 1773, Teatro San Sebastiano, Livorno; according to some sources, it was also performed in Florence), only excerpts from the opera (the former Cherubini Conservatory in Florence) have been preserved. Upon his return to USA, B. was ranked as Pridv. chapel without a specific position.
