The flat lower deck is slightly cut in the upper half; resonator holes (2 or 4) are in the form of snakes. There are 6-7 playing strings; they are tuned in different ways, most often as in a bass (tenor) viola. Resonant strings from 9 to 28, more often 14-18, their tuning is usually diatonic (in most cases from E). They are located above the upper deck, partially under the bar. Due to the large number of strings, the neck and head are very wide. The performer held the instrument between the calves of the legs (like a gambu).
