The crown of Beethoven’s lyrics was the cycle “To the Far Beloved”, which is considered the first romantic song cycle in the history of music. Amateur poet Alois Yateles, a physician by profession, sent Beethoven through a common acquaintance his poems. They cannot be considered high poetry, in some places they are clumsy, in some places they are trivial. But Beethoven immediately took this text as “his”, captivated by its immediate sincerity, and during April 1816 created six songs locked in a ring due to the return of the melody of the first song in the final.
