January brought Liszt two premieres of his own works at once: on the 7th, the Second Piano Concerto A-dur and the final version of the symphonic poem What is Heard on the Mountain, on which Liszt worked for ten years, were sounded in the walls of the Weimar court theater. And on the 22nd in Berlin, Hans von Bülow played the h-moll sonata. It is very significant that the first concert piano of the famous music company Karl Bechstein, specially made for Hans von Bülow, was “consecrated” by the first performance of this only Lithuanian sonata.
