Chiodos - Interlude, Pt. 2

The piano play “Lyon”, which we already mentioned in connection with Liszt’s attitude to the July Revolution, and the poetic cycle “Apparitions” of three pieces, including Fantasy on the Waltz by F. Schubert, were also composed there (No. 3), the first of his adaptations of Schubert’s works. Although the title of the cycle - “Visions” - coincides with the title of Lamartine’s book of poems, this time Liszt was inspired not by her, but by Chretien Uranus’s poetic cycle “Auditions” from three poems. Perhaps the atmosphere of La Chenet evoked in Liszt nostalgic memories of the arrival of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul?
