The children of counselor von Braining became Beethoven's loyal friends for many years. Perhaps he talked less than others with Christoph, who wrote poetry in his youth, and then excelled in the Prussian public service and became secret adviser in Berlin. But Lenz von Braining was extremely close to Beethoven. This charming and gifted young man, who decided to become a doctor, died very young, at 22 years old. For the last time, Lenz saw Beethoven in Vienna in the fall of 1797.
