During rehearsals, Elvis was treated without much warmth, especially since that evening he was announced among the debutants. The entertainer was surprised to see him with two ordinary accompanists: he was convinced that on both records Elvis sings accompanied by a larger orchestra. At that point, this was a common misconception that blamed Sam Phillips' technical ingenuity. Ahead of his time, he managed to give Elvis recordings a deceptive volume thanks to the simultaneous use of two tape recorders (the second created an artificial echo that worked extremely efficiently).
